The three truths of life spoken by the psychiatrist Phil Stutz
1. Pain
Uncertainty
The Need for Constant Work
If pain, uncertainty, and the need for constant work are truths of this life then what is the purpose behind it all? Put simply Phil says, "to find purpose, meaning, and to be in service."
From a space of gratitude we overcome the pain of life and find purpose, meaning, and service. This space frees us from unnecessary suffering and helps us learn how to be here now.
The egotic mind focuses on the suffering. Gratitude focuses on the space between. The space of freedom, connection, love, and abundance. Life is duality of them both. Like yin and yang, our lives hold hands with both dark and light.
When we accept that there will always be constant dark, the dark isn't so overwhelming. Rather, we accept it as apart of what it means to be alive.
There is more to this life than our individual concerns. More here than just what we want from day to day.
Working through pain and learning how to be here now is how you continually reach the summit of health and happiness. To be healthy, one does not just take care of the body but also of the mind. Flowing with the dark thoughts and learning how to find gratitude.
A reminder,
We are all on this journey together.
None of us are except from pain.
This is what it means to be alive.
So let us learn how to be here now, together.
